Charles William Michaels

C. William Michaels is an appellate lawyer. He has concentrated his practice on appellate matters for the last 25 years. He is available to draft briefs for other attorneys --in either Federal or State appellate courts--or to represent clients in either Maryland or Federal appellate courts (Fourth Circuit and DC Circuit). He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1978 and from Brandeis University (magna cum laude) in 1975. While at law school he was Associate Editor for the Maryland Law Forum and one of the Assistant Editors of the Maryland Law Review.

Q. Do I have reason to Appeal a Parking Citation if is was placed in my car ( entered the vehicle ) without my permission

A: No. There was no trespass, and you were not harmed in any way.

Q. Can you appeal the 9th Circuit court of appeals decision to the higher court?

A: Yes, the US Supreme Court. But an appeal to that Court is not as of right. You first have to petition the US Supreme Court to review your case--only if that petition is granted can you proceed with that appeal. That petition has strict rules and procedures, mostly described in the Supreme Court's website under Rules. The filing fee, in most cases, is $300.
