Q. who do we contact to confirm death of a parent in nyc and if there was a will or property left to next of kin?
A: Your wife may be able to contact the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene since she is next of kin She may be able to request a copy of the death certificate. She can apply online, by mail, or in person. Death certificates are necessary for most estate-related matters. NYC Vital Records: https://www.nyc.gov.

You could attempt to contact the Surrogate's Court in the County of Death. Wills and probate filings are managed by the Surrogate's Court in the county where the person resided at the time of death. For NYC, this will depend on the specific borough (e.g., Manhattan, Brooklyn (Kings), Queens, Staten Island, the Bronx).

For the coop, the coop may want proof that someone represents the estate depending on the circumstances.

Q. I'm 11 weeks pregnant my obgy gave me a 25 lbs weight restriction but they say they cannot accommodate me
A: The Pregnancy Discrimination Act and related state laws require reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers, similar to those provided to employees with temporary physical limitations. If you work in New York, you have additional protections under the New York State Human Rights Law (NYSHRL) and the New York City Human Rights Law (NYCHRL). Possibly include a request for written clarification on why accommodations aren’t feasible.

Also, possibly Seek Assistance from the New York State Division of Human Rights (DHR). You can file a complaint with the NY DHR if your employer violates state law. Complaints must generally be filed within one year of the discrimination or accommodation denial. For more information or to file a complaint, visit dhr.ny.gov/ or call the Division of Human Rights at 1-888-392-3644. ... Read More
Q. What is recourse if real property was illegally seized when taxes were always paid in full and county ascribed wrong own
A: If your real property was transferred due to errors by the county (e.g., assigning the wrong owner or failing to notify you of changes to the deed) contact the county recorder or assessor's office in writing to dispute the error. Include copies of your tax payment records, the deed, and other supporting documents if you have not done so already. Request documentation of how the county allegedly notified you of the seizure or ownership change.

If they failed to notify you as required by law, this strengthens your case. If the issue is not resolved, consider filing a quiet title lawsuit in court. This legal action seeks to establish clear ownership of the property and resolve disputes regarding the title. ... Read More
