Biography

I grew up in and around Fort Atkinson. I went to college and law school in Oklahma and Virginia respectively. I lived in China for a month, and I lived in and around Israel for two weeks.

I had the honor and privilege of studying under Former U.S. Attorney-General John Ashcroft; Sitting Virginia Supreme Court Justice D. Arthur Kelsey; Professors Brad Jacob and James Duane, who had U.S. Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Stephen Breyer as law professors; Ben Madison, who writes law school Civil Procedure text books for Carolina Academic Press, a national law school textbook publisher; and Harvard Law School Alumni, James Duane, Natt Gantt, and Caleb N. Griffin. I name all of these people not to namedrop, but to underscore the quality of legal education that I received.

I had to take the Wisconsin Bar Exam because I attended law school out of state. I passed the Bar Exam on my first attempt. Since students at Wisconsin law schools do not have to take the Wisconsin Bar Exam, I accomplished a feat that many Wisconsin lawyers have not accomplished.

The Lord helps me when I struggle. In law school, I needed to complete a very important writing project, and the deadline was only five days away. I was greatly struggling with a finalizing step that I needed to complete to comply with my professor's requirements. I kept praying and reminding God that He is omniscient and omnipotent and therefore could help me. He helped me, and I successfully completed the work that I needed to complete.

I wrote and filed a motion to transfer jurisdiction under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Enforcement Act. I won that motion. I have filed a Motion to Dismiss under the Wisconsin Rules of Civil Procedure.

My hobbies are reading, listening to music, listening to comtary, listening to sports, playing cards, having good comversations, getting to know people, reading, listening to lectures and debates, listening to sermons, and learning interesting information.

Fees
  • Free Consultation
If my first meeting with you is more than an hour or involves accessing and reviewing documents that you provide to me, I will charge you for that meeting. In all other circumstances, I do not charge for the first meeting. I charge a flat fee for Estate Planning work that covers all of the work that I do for you. I do not require an additional fee or an up-front payment for my first meeting in an Estate Planning representation, but I consider that meeting as part of the work that the flat fee covers. You pay the flat fee for Estate Planning work when we meet to sign Estate Planning documents.
  • Contingent Fees
I would want an advance fee up-front. I would be open to accepting the remainder of the payment for my work as a contingent fee when the law permits doing so and when a specific case's circumstances justify it. I would have to believe that the chances of a client recovering a substantial monetary award in a particular legal action are fairly high before I would be likely to consider a contingent fee agreement. I have a strong preference against contingent fees in many circumstances, but I might agree to one advance fee payment and a contingent fee payment for those services that an advance fee does not cover in the right circumstances.
  • Rates, Retainers and Additional Information
I typically charge 70 dollars an hour for litigation. I ask clients to pay an advance fee bf I start work for them. The advance fee covers the cost of my first five hours of work on the payor's case. Thus, I generally charge an advance fee of 350 dollars. I will require clients to pay me at least 100 dollars in any month in which I do at least ten hours of work for a particular client. Once I have done 10 hours of work for a client, I will notify the client, request payment, inform the client that I will not do any more work bf receiveing payment, and stop work until the client makes payment. The hours of work that the advance fee covers are not included in a month's ten hours. I charge a 300 dollar flat fee for drafting a will. I charge 350 dollars if I include two Powers of Attorney with a will. If you do not want me to draft Powers of Attorney while I draft a will but request Powers of Attorney after your will is complete, I will charge you 120 dollars for two Powers of Attorney.

Sole Proprietorship was my firm's name bf I applied for this profile. I litigated four Child Custody and Physical Placement cases; two of which were Child Support cases.
