George Tran

I am a trial lawyer based in the San Francisco Bay Area, focusing on white collar defense, federal investigations, state and local government investigations, corporate internal investigations, and business litigation. My practice spans the greater Bay Area, including Marin County, Alameda County, Sonoma County, San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, Silicon Valley, and beyond. I served as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice and as a Deputy District Attorney, bringing over 12 years of courtroom and investigative experience to the benefit of my clients and their high-stakes matters. Over the course of my career, I have successfully tried more than 30 cases to verdict in both federal and state courts across the country, and handled hundreds of contested hearings.

I represent individuals and companies in internal corporate investigations and navigating daunting government investigations by federal, state, and local agencies, including those subject to subpoenas, audits, and enforcement actions. Whether my clients are witnesses, subjects, or targets of an investigation, I provide strategic counsel and leverage my deep prosecutorial background to handle their matters effectively and efficiently. When trial is necessary, I draw on my trial and litigation experience to advocate vigorously at trials and hearings when necessary.

Beyond investigations and white collar defense, I handle commercial litigation matters as both plaintiff- and defense-side counsel. I represent businesses and individuals in disputes involving contracts, fraud, partnership and founder disputes, employment matters, torts, trade secret misappropriation, personal injury, and consumer protection. I also work with startups and emerging companies in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area, advising them on litigation risk management and strategy.

I earned my B.A. from UCLA and my J.D., with a concentration in criminal law, from UC Law SF (formerly UC Hastings).
