1 Questions Answered
- Q. My mom and aunt have a house together. My aunt has been overcharging her for mortgage along with other utilities.
- A: You need to find out how your aunt and mom took title to the house whether by "joint tenancy" or "tenancy in common". To determine what happens with the house in the event something happens to either one of them. You should also have your mom and aunt put an agreement together as to how those expenses, mortgage, utilities, taxes, insurance are to be shared and what happens if someone doesn't pay and someone pays the other share and what that means for reimbursement. At the end of the day the two of them need to get an agreement together and then deal with any inequities that may have already happened. Wishing you the best.
