Biography

I attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and received a degree in political science in 1986. I attended Wayne State law school in Detroit Michigan and graduated in 1989. I have practiced law for more than 35 years exclusively representing clients in the field of personal injury. I have had more than 100 jury trials since becoming a lawyer and obtained multiple verdicts that exceeded 1 million dollars including a verdict that exceeded 5 million dollars. Our law firm has a reputation as being very ethical and a reputation for achieving great legal results on behalf of our clients. I treat all my clients respectfully and make a great effort to keep them informed and most importantly I return their phone calls. On a personal level, I enjoy attending sporting events, spending time with my family and my animals. I enjoy representing individuals who need an advocate and the opportunity to improve their quality of life where they have been harmed as a result of the negligence of a third party.

Q. Legal consequences for allowing a suspended driver to drive his vehicle in Michigan?
A: I'm questioning why he would need your permission to drive his own vehicle. If you allowed him to use a vehicle you owned, then you could be legally liable for any damages or injuries he caused. You could also be responsible for his driving acts under a negligent entrustment legal theory if you allowed him to drive your vehicle. If you hired/requested him to perform some type driving activity on your behalf and he caused an injury, potentially you could be liable if he was acting as your agent. There really is not enough information to answer your question properly.
Q. Relative injured in auto accident, declined settlement offers, considering court. What are the options?
A: They have an attorney so they should discuss their legal options with their attorney who will make recommendations. If they are not satisfied with the offer, they could simply file a lawsuit and seek a jury trial. Some insurance companies will not make a reasonable offer until a lawsuit is filed. However, the attorney should be consulted on all decisions as to how to proceed.
Q. What is a protective order for child's settlement money?
A: This most likely means that there is some type of protective order issued by the Court protecting the proceeds of the settlement from being spent until the minor reaches the of 18. Although it could mean some other type of protection related to the settlement proceeds. The purpose of a protective order would be to protect the rights of the minor child.
