Jennifer Marie Mohamed
The Bayne Law Group LLC
I am an experienced Attorney with a proven track record representing clients in a wide array of transactional and litigation matters with an emphasis on commercial (business) and environmental litigation. I have an extensive understanding of environmental law and policy matters that comes from a lifetime commitment to environmental issues and having represented stakeholders on all sides of the table over the past 20 years, including government, industry, individuals, and environmental groups.
I started my law career as an attorney with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation where I was Counsel to the Division of Solid and Hazardous Materials. This position, combined with my concentration in environmental law while in law school, provided me with a deep understanding of our environmental laws and policies. While at the NYSDEC I advised a team of 80+ engineers and environmental specialists on hazardous and solid waste management, permitting and enforcement issues and state recycling laws.
I then went to work in private practice where I represented defendants in federal Superfund cleanup, NJ Spill Act, and other illegal discharge and cost recovery actions. I have also assisted with the drafting an Amicus Curiae brief on behalf of a well-known New York environmental advocacy group. I recently published a legal white paper on climate change.
In the course of representing clients on environmental matters, my practice naturally expanded over the years into business and employment law matters, including general business disputes/litigation, business sales and acquisitions, contracts, non-compete/NDA agreements, employee hiring and discharges, and small company board advisement. I have also represented individual clients with the purchase and sale of real property with underground storage tanks, represented a homeowners’ association with a dispute with the developer, and negotiated settlements of debt collections.
