Kate W. Haakonsen
If your marriage is ending, you can do it with dignity and fairness
I have practiced law since 1978 and mediation since 1995 and collaborative divorce since 2006. While I have experience in numerous areas of law, I have concentrated my practice in matrimonial and family law for most of my career. I have over 200 hours of mediation training and many more hours of collaborative divorce training and have presented workshops on mediation at conferences around New England. I am a member and past president of Connecticut Counsel for Non-Adversarial Divorce, past chair of the Family Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and several other professional associations related to my practice. As a lawyer, I have served as a volunteer in several court sponsored settlement programs and as a mediator of EEO disputes for the USPS.
Although choosing to divorce is rarely easy, I believe is doesn't have to be an ordeal or cost a fortune if couples are willing and able to work together to find acceptable solutions.
