Keith Edmiston
Bankruptcy, Commercial Law & Litigation Law Firm
I graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Immediately thereafter, I entered law school at the University of Tennessee. I graduated with honors from the law school in 1996.
Bankruptcy law constitutes a majority of my practice. I file cases under all chapters of the Bankruptcy Code, including consumer cases under Chapters 7 and 13, farm cases under Chapter 12, and business cases. under Chapter 11.
I have a substantial litigation practice. I can be both very aggressive and calm and mild, whatever the matter dictates. I have been involved in hundreds of litigation cases for both claimants and defendants. Many of these cases exceeded a million dollars in potential recoveries. Additionally, I have represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a substantial number of multi-million dollar civil rights cases, including wrongful arrest, excessive force, and discrimination. I also do corporate work and represent lenders and borrowers in lending transactions and real estate matters.
From 2007-2013, I was an Assistant Law Examiner with the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners. As an Assistant Law Examiner, I wrote and graded essay questions for each of the bi-yearly bar exams. Also, I reviewed all applications for law licensure for qualifications and moral fitness.
During the course of my 20+ year career, I have written an article in a national publication and taught several seminars for attorneys on bankruptcy, foreclosure, title issues, and civil rights.
