LeTonya F Moore
Senior Partner | Trusted Voice for Parents of Children with Disabilities
When the future of your child is on the line, you don't just need a lawyer—you need a relentless advocate who understands how to navigate the system and secure victories.
For over two decades, LeTonya F. Moore, has been at the forefront of legal justice, aiding families in breaking down the systemic barriers that often overlook the needs of children with disabilities. As the Senior Partner and Co-Founder of Williams & Moore, LLP, I lead a formidable legal team dedicated to ensuring that these families are heard and their rights upheld.
Licensed since 2002, I offer a unique blend of federal regulatory knowledge, courtroom prowess, and a human-centered approach to law. My legal career spans nearly 15 years of federal service, during which I worked at the U.S. Department of HUD, VA, and HHS. There, I enforced legal protections related to housing discrimination, disability rights, employment injustice, and public healthcare access.
My passion lies in special education law. My dedication is deeply influenced by my father’s experiences as a bright Black child in segregated Alabama, who was misdiagnosed and neglected by a failing system. This drives my commitment to ensuring that parents can secure what every child deserves under the law.
I assist parents in developing effective IEPs, Section 504 plans, and representing them in due process. We ensure they can approach school meetings with confidence, armed with the law and supported by a team that delivers results.
Nationally recognized as a Top Attorney of the Year and recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award in Education Law, I am also a published contributor, public speaker, and strategist. I have been featured in media outlets like Authority Magazine for my efforts to advance neurodiversity inclusion and equity in education.

- Q. How to address child's truancy due to bullying in Florida?
- A: To speak along with my esteemed colleague, you have to be able to make a show that bullying occurred prior to any filings. When our firm handles bullying matters, we start there. However, since there is a truancy matter, as stated, all things need to be addressed simultaneously. If you have not made any written complaints or otherwise informed the school in writing with regard to the bullying, I would suggest you do that immediately. Also, document each time the school called for you to pick him up early. If your son has an IEP or 504, there are additional protections that may be at play.
- Q. How to grant educational guardianship to attend school in brother's district in Alabama?
- A: In Alabama, there is technically no educational guardianship, however, there is a path with limited guardianship. This is where one is granted guardianship for a specific purpose. I would suggest you reach out to an attorney who handles guardianships, as the guardian would have to be appoint through the courts.
