Margaret F. Rowlett
Hodgman, Rowlett & Jahnes, P.A.
After graduating from Duke University School of Law, I was offered a position with a North Carolina law firm, and I have practiced law in Greensboro ever since. The most rewarding aspect of my practice has been working with individual clients and helping them get benefits they are owed. I work to maintain a personal relationship with each of my clients and stay available to them by phone or in person as needed throughout the representation.
Since the start, my clients have included people injured at work. I have handled many types of workers' compensation claims from on-the-job accidents to occupational diseases. I have challenged denied claims by filing hearing requests seeking a determination from the Industrial Commission that a claim was compensable. I have also handled accepted claims in which my clients have faced many types of issues, from denials of needed medical care to difficulties returning to work after recovering from their injuries.
Many of those claims have also required motions and hearing requests to be filed with the Industrial Commission where I have represented clients at all levels: before the Executive Secretary's office, Deputy Commissioners, and the Full Commission. I have also litigated cases before the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
In 2007, I decided to apply to be a board-certified specialist in NC workers' compensation law with the NC Bar's Board of Legal Specialization. After collecting references and taking the required exam, my application was approved, and I have been certified ever since. I have also been selected to appear in the NC Super Lawyers list from 2010 to 2021 and the Best Lawyers in America in NC workers' compensation law from 2009 to 2021.
Clients will have many questions throughout their representation. I look forward to answering their questions, addressing their concerns, and protecting their rights. People injured at work should receive personalized attention from an advocate that they can trust.
