Michael S. Carr

Michael "Mike" Carr focuses his practice on state and federal criminal defense, personal injury, and civil rights.
Mike is a very experienced trial attorney, having litigated more than 50 jury trials in state and federal court as lead counsel, ranging from complex six figure civil personal injury cases to triple homicide capital murder defense. He is often hired as specialized counsel assisting lawyers in other states and has been admitted pro hac vice in Georgia and Tennessee on multiple occasions.
In addition to this practice, Michael is heavily involved in several professional organizations. He is an on-call attorney for the Police Benevolent Association. He is one of 10 CJA panel members serving 36 counties in Northern Mississippi.
When he is not in the courtroom, Mike works as an adjunct professor, teaching night classes at Delta State University in Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and Federal and State Trial Practice.
Mike is a former Mississippi Bar Commissioner for the 11th Circuit and currently serves on the Executive Finance Committee of the Mississippi Bar. Mike regularly participates in Wills for Heroes, where he assists first responders with drafting wills and estate planning. He has served as a judge and attorney coach for the Mississippi High School Mock Trial Competition for ten years.
A regular presenter at the University of Mississippi, Delta State University, and Continuing Legal Education events, Mike has received statewide recognition for his work with Lawyers in Every Classroom, which educates high school and college students on a wide range of topics involving the legal profession. Mike was named Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year in 2014 by the Mississippi Bar, and maintains a top "AV" rating by Martindale Hubbell.
