Helping good people since 1995.
I did not grow up dreaming of being an attorney. I decided to become one after my parents were involved in a frivolous and expensive lawsuit that wreaked havoc in their lives. I was unhappy with the aloof and unresponsive legal representation they received. My family’s hard-earned money was flowing into the lawyer’s coffers, and he acted like he was doing my family a favor. I never wanted to feel that helpless again. So I applied to law school.
My mother raised me as a single parent for much of my childhood and struggled to make ends meet. I can appreciate the financial struggles that families go through. I have also navigated both of my parent’s end of life issues and understand the problems inherent in helping aging parents and the importance of estate planning.
My approach to the practice of law is simple: one on one personal service, attention to detail, and bringing my years of legal and life experience to help you obtain the results you need. During your consultation, I will take the time to understand your unique situation and offer advice in a relaxed, confidential setting. I will help you understand the potential impacts of your decision, whether it be wiping out debt with bankruptcy, handling the complex issues of caring for an aging parent, or preparing a simple will.
I became a lawyer in 1995 and have experience in a wide range of legal areas – criminal defense, elder law, bankruptcy, contract disputes, family law, commercial litigation, consumer law, and estates. Since leaving the law firm and opening my practice in 2012, I have exclusively focused on bankruptcy, elder law, and estate planning. I purposely operate a small and lean practice, emphasizing giving clients personal attention – and that is what sets me apart. I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1987, and my legal degree from the University of Montana School of Law in 1995.
