Summary

Welcome to Elovitz, Edwards, O'Nan and Buerlein - Family Law Attorneys. We are happy to help you. I have been practicing family law since 2001. Our firm is noted for our aggressive representation and I charge fair, flat fees. Potential clients can be assured that I have the necessary experience and dedication to family law, and will give each and every client the personal attention that their case requires. I have been practicing for 18 years, so I am considered an expert in my field and well regarded by opposing attorneys and judges.

My partners and I have a combined 66 years of experience.

Please note: I DO NOT handle cases when DFCS is involved nor do we handle 3rd party or grandparent custody cases. I also only handle cases in the immediate Atlanta Metro area.

I have a very low caseload, so I only handle one trial matter at a time. You will not have to worry about me not being able to handle your important hearing because I have another scheduled at the same time. I set aside time for each client and each case so you get my undivided attention. I will never hand your case off to an associate.

Some recent case results:
KB v. BJ – Fulton County
Father was a doctor who was ordered to pay his daughter’s private school tuition. He happily did so, and paid the mother $3500 in child support. He was shocked to learn the Mother had enrolled the child in boarding school 11 miles away from her home. This increased the tuition significantly, and Mother expected to continue to get her $3500 per month in child support for a child she had shipped off to boarding school. The Mother spent $20,000 in attorney’s fees (our client paid significantly less under the flat fee system) and the Father got a 40% reduction in child support – the exact number we asked for at trial.

KD v. KA – Gwinnett County
We represented a Father of 5 children, only 1 of which was biologically his. After a trial, he was awarded full custody of all the children.

1699 Questions Answered

Q. If I want nothing to do with a child or the woman what do I do?
A: You aren't required to see or speak to your child. However, you still must pay child support.
Q. My rights were terminated about 2 and half years ago! Is it possible that I can reinstate my parental rights
A: No.
Q. is there a time limit to reopen a divorce case in GA ?
A: There isn't a simple answer. Time limits vary based upon the reason for reopening. However, that sort of relief is very rarely granted.
Q. Child custody battle paternal grandmother won sole custody now filing for attorneys fees is there a maximum ammount ?
A: No. There is no maximum amout that can be awarded.
Q. My ex filed for a modification for custody/child support. I want to prolong it . How?
A: You have to respond in 30 days. Just respond as best you can. You need to provide the court with an address so you can get notices. The response doesn't have to be fancy. Just file a response in plain english addressing the allegations and make sure your address is noted. It must be filed with the clerk of court, and it may be done online.
Q. Parental rights
A: Yes, you will still have to pay support.
Q. I have been separated for 14 years do I need to file a divorce
A: You need to speak with an attorney about an annulment or divorce. There are options even if you do not know where he is.
Q. im looking to get a divorce she has a son that i didnt adopt but changed his last name how would that affect me
A: You should talk to an attorney about your case. You don't have to pay for her child if he is not legally yours.
Q. Is it worth getting a modification to take my 18 yr old off child support when I have another 16 yrs old
A: It might not be. If your income has gone up since the original order, asking for a modification could backfire and you could end up owing more for the 1 child than you were paying for 2. You should consult with an attorney who can review your orders and give you advice.
