Biography

Teris Swanson graduated magna cum laude from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2017 and joined the Bryant Law Center team in 2018. She was voted by her law school classmates as “Most Likely to be A Supreme Court Justice” and graduated in the top 5% of her class. Additionally, she was awarded with a certificate recognizing over 100 hours of pro bono work during her time in law school. She achieved a perfect score in criminal procedure and federal income tax and made the second highest score in several classes including contracts, constitutional law, conflicts of law, and administrative law.

Prior to attending law school, Teris graduated summa cum laude from Murray State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science with an additional secondary, social studies teaching certification. She worked as a substitute teacher and long-term substitute teacher in several school districts including Livingston County and Marshall County Schools, before deciding to attend law school.

Teris has spent time working and volunteering with the Paducah office of Kentucky Legal Aid, McCracken County Family Court Judge Deanna Henschel, the Commonwealth Attorney’s office in McCracken County, and in the Domestic Violence Clinic at SIU.

She was selected by the Kentucky Justice Association from attorneys across the state to participate in the 2018-19 KJA Leadership Academy, for which there were only 15 available slots. This program provides invaluable networking, leadership, and legal skills and knowledge to the most promising young attorneys in Kentucky.

A Livingston County native, Teris resides in Ledbetter with her husband, Caleb Swanson, who, along with his father, operates Swanson’s Alignment in Ledbetter, Kentucky. In their spare time they enjoy playing music and singing together, kayaking and canoeing, and traveling. Teris especially enjoys spending time with and spoiling her nieces and nephew.
