Tim Akpinar
A dedicated attorney who fights hard for the rights of injury victims
Tim handles motor vehicle accidents, slip & fall accidents, medical malpractice, boating accidents, cruise ship accidents, and complex hull/machinery/cargo cases. Tim represents commercial mariners, recreational boaters, cruise ship passengers, and other injury plaintiffs. As a former shipboard officer, he understands the importance of the Jones Act and other maritime laws.
Tim taught law at SUNY Maritime College and in the MBA program at Southern New Hampshire University. On a limited basis, he tutors law school graduates for the New York State Bar Exam. Tim was asked to cover the subject of limitation of liability for the American Trial Lawyers Association (Defeating Limitation of Liability in Maritime Law).
Tim worked as an environmental engineer for an 826 MW generating station where he trained NYC firefighters in first responder plant hazards that included 138,000-volt equipment, high-pressure steam, and bulk chemical storage. He worked as a shift supervisor at a 425 MW station, responsible for steam turbines and auxiliaries.

- Q. I was in a accident where the other driver crossed the road I was driving on.
- A: I'm sorry about your accident. I hope you and others involved are okay. Your question doesn't include a state or territory, but as a general matter nationwide, these settings could depend on additional details, such as traffic control devices, signage, road markings, where other vehicle crossed your path from, etc. Ask your insurance company the basis for their determination that you're at fault - it's possible they already have a police report, or sent an accident investigator to the site to examine things more closely. - A: A Georgia attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for three weeks, and it's likely you already consulted with local attorneys by now. Definitions could be specific to a given jurisdiction, but a fixed object is often understood to mean something fixed to its surroundings - poles, trees, utility boxes, etc. Good luck

- A: An Ohio attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for a week. Suing is always an option on any claim. But maybe first look into what caused the mileage error, and if they will work toward resolution of the claim with you based on corrected odometer readings. If the claim is PD only, and working with their PD adjuster could lead to resolution, that route would be less expensive than a lawsuit for all involved. Good luck
