- Q. How does general damages apply my case? When it says : it may be recovered for any amount with or without proof
- A: Car wreck damages are complicated, and this sounds like a serious wreck. Frankly, you should not be trying to handle it on your own. When I used to work for insurance companies, I saw them bamboozle people like you all the time (i.e. people without a good lawyer). Get an attorney. Get one yesterday. An experienced attorney will protect your rights and should take the time to explain the situation to you.
Best of luck.
- Q. I am eployed ny MWR and was injured and on workers comp. can they make me look ofr other jobs?
- A: In a Georgia workers' compensation case, if an injured employee is out of work on either "no work" status or "light duty" work status, getting weekly wage replacement benefits, they typically don't have any obligation to look for a job. Insurers lie to hurt workers about their "obligations" all the time, largely without any consequences. If you are in that situation, you need a lawyer. I'd call one immediately. Eventually, the insurer is going to trick you into doing something harmful to your rights and your case. Once that happens, a lawyer may not be able to fix it. Hire a lawyer before you get bamboozled.
- Q. Iwas hit head on by a dui driver. I'm having Trouble findingattorney that willget anything but their insurance cov. Wtd
- A: Michael is correct. If your attorney has already sent a demand to the insurance company for the drunk driver, and they paid, then you can seek money from your own UM/UIM (underinsured motorist) coverage. This is insurance that you can buy (before an accident) to provide you with extra money if the negligent driver does not have enough insurance coverage to "make you whole". If all the insurance companies send you timely settlement checks, and they do not act in bad faith, then typically that is all the money you will be able to recovery, regardless of the extent of your injuries. However, if the liability carrier acts in bad faith, then you can potentially get an "excess verdict" ... Read More
