He is proud to open the firm's first Pennsylvania office. Mr. Smith is an expert in trial advocacy, having tried more than 40 corporate and professional liability lawsuits to verdict in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He specializes in a wide array of complex civil litigation, including but not limited to: medical malpractice, hospital and nursing home negligence, oil and gas, legal malpractice, interstate trucking litigation, ski accidents, premises liability, construction accidents and liquor liability. Mr. Smith received his J.D. degree from The Penn State Dickinson School of Law in 1993. He is a member of The Dickinson Journal of International Law. He received his undergraduate degree with honors in business management and minors in accounting and economics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1990. Mr. Smith has lectured nationally in areas of patient safety, risk management and medical malpractice. He has been published in Compliance Today and McKnight’s Long Term Care News; and, has authored book chapters for Aspen Publishers and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. He has also lectured at the request of The Professional Risk Management Society, The Pennsylvania Health Care Association and The Hospital and Healthcare Association of Pennsylvania. Mr. Smith is licensed to practice law in all state courts of Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. He is certified to practice law in the Federal District Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania; the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia, the Southern District of Ohio; and, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
