Ms. Carey has practiced law for the past thirty (30) years primarily in the area of bankruptcy and bankruptcy litigation; however, she also handles other matters including probate planing, estate administration, civil litigation, collection matters and some domestic law matters.

From a small town, Ms. Carey doesn't stand on formalities and treats her clients as if they have know one another for years. She strives simplify and streamline matters for her clients and destress the process for them.

Michael Lakes joined our Indianapolis office in July of 2024. Before that, he was employed with the Indiana Department of Child Services providing legal services to field staff to help promote compliance with Indiana law and child welfare. As soon as he graduated from law school, Michael joined a general practice firm in Martinsville, IN where he represented clients in criminal, civil, and family law. Mr. Lakes was raised in Connersville, IN. He now lives in Indianapolis with his wife, son, and daughter. Jessie A. Cook represents individuals accused of major felonies in state and federal courts. She graduated from IU Maurer School of Law (1979, cum laude), the National College of Criminal Defense and the Darrow College of Capital Defense. She teaches advanced trial advocacy at the Maurer School of Law- Bloomington, and for various continuing legal education programs including the Federal Defender Organization, the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, and ICLEF’s Trial Advocacy Skills College.
