Jon’s father, Perry, was an independent insurance agent in N. Wilkesboro. Perry worked for a number of years as a top selling agent for Farm Bureau prior to opening his own insurance company. Jon’s mother, Pat, retired from Yadkinville Elementary School in the capacity of a special education teacher. She continues to reside at the home place of Mr. Welborn. Edward L. Powell is an attorney in Winston-Salem, NC. He is the Yadkin County Attorney and the Town Attorney of Kernersville, NC and has a private law practice. He is the former Commissioner of the NC Department of Motor Vehicles and served in the State House of Representatives and as a member of the NC Board of Transportation.
